Newel, twelve rooms on the dunes at Paternoster

Twelve rooms on the dunes outside Paternoster, two hours up the West Coast from Cape Town.
Where the fog
comes and goes.
A low house round a courtyard, out of the wind.
Lime plaster and local limestone, with walls thick enough to hold the day's warmth. The pool is heated, so it steams when the fog comes in off the Atlantic. Most summer mornings it does, and it goes by eleven.

- Five rooms on the Atlantic side
- The heated pool
- The kitchen and the wood oven
- The lounge, the fire and the dune rooms
- The old milkwood
